An Experience To Remember

An Experience To Remember

Not many fathers are capable of tenderness towards their children. They are usually too busy earning a living for the family- or that’s the excuse. No this is not always right. I thought the same thing about my father unless this overwhelming experience happened to me and I got to know the tender and loving side of my father .

He has always been very kind and loving but this is different. When I was 9 years we went to Bangalore for family vacation and from there we went to different places around. As we are all nature lovers we couldn’t miss this chance of visiting and witnessing this beautiful national park at Bandipur which had it’s area spread over three states. This was a real beautiful forest with beautiful landscapes and greenery unlike what we have in our state we were mesmerised by the beauty and look around with curiosity while the driver was trying to be friendly by giving us information about the forest and the animals found there. We were enjoying every bit of it but suddenly a huge tusker a male who was abandoned from his herd appeared in front of us about three metres from the bushes around and started chasing us, there was no security personnel with us nor any other vehicle far around we were shattered and the driver lost control out of fear and went into a state of shock and his hands froze he was unable to drive , what more could have happened in the middle of the jungle to us, I was thinking ,with fear of death in front of my eyes . But as luck would have it my parents kept their calm and reacted patiently-my mother was trying to get the driver back to his senses and my father accumulated all his experience of the jungle (jungle love and knowledge only helped us here ) and tried to chase the elephant off and as luck would have it within friction of minutes it worked and the elephant went away . But the fear , experiencing death from such a close distance left a deep impression in my head and heart as a child I remained disturbed throughout the day and when night arrived I became anxious and fear caught up again, my mother tried her best to comfort me but it didn’t work then my father came near me took me into his lap and made me understand that in life we have to face so many unexpected things but overcoming them is winning the battle. He hugged me tight and I could see tears of empathy in his eyes as he tried to console me .He has been most loving and caring throughout but this experience made me realise more his loving and tender side . I felt so much better. We then went for our dinner and prepared to sleep only after thanking God for protecting us and keeping us safe and alive . The effect and memory of this incident might fade but I will never forget this incident in my life.
