Importance of discipline in student’s life

Success, in a student’s life, is a boulder. This boulder can only be removed by only one weapon “DISCIPLINE”, the strongest weapon that I have ever seen other than education. Discipline helps us to be focused on the work that we are doing in a planned manner. There are a lot of other benefits of discipline in a student’s life. They are-

  1. Provides a stress free environment
  2. Discipline moulds student’s character
  3. Better academic performance
  4. Be a role model for others

We should maintain a strict routine so that we can one-by-one keep on achieving different goals in our lives along with staying healthy. During this pandemic, most of us have lost the discipline from our lives. Earlier, when school was open, I used to wake up at 6o’ clock and take a bath and then went to school, which started at 8 o’clock. But now, I get up at 7:45 and somehow join the class from the bed itself and then keep the phone aside. This is resulting in frustration between the parents and the students. Parents want us to go back to our regular lives of waking up at 6 in the morning and joining our class from the study table with a fresh mind. So to get rid of this frustration, I thought of changing my lifestyle a bit. Now, I wake up at 7 in the morning, go to our bathroom, have a warm bath, come out, have a little gossip with my parents, wear my school shirt and tie and take the phone and sit on the study table and then click the “join the class” button. Now I feel that this way of life is more enjoyable than the other one. Now let me tell you how this way of life became more interesting. I just added a spice called “Discipline” to my life. In this way, even I am happy and so are my parents too. Many people mislead discipline with strictness and madness. Discipline doesn’t mean waking up at 4 in the morning, doing yoga, reading books, studying 6-7 hours a day, etc. etc. Discipline means doing something in a planned and normal manner. This helps us to lead a happy and stress less life. We, students, must have a goal and make a normal plan which can help us achieve that goal. A student is disciplined when he/she follows that schedule in a correct manner. Sir Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam once said “The cost of discipline is always less than the Price of Regret. So, Self Discipline is the biggest investment for success in life.” So we should not waste our time and utilise that time to sit cool and make a planned routine with the spice of self-discipline so that we can start leading a stress less, happy and successful life ahead.
