The Cicada’s Song
The Cicada’s Song
Leena Doley
The Cicada’s Song
Forlorn and bereft
She sits waiting for the unknown
The cicadas call
Crickets sing the lonesome song
The twilight sun sets beckoning
The end of yet another
Life of waiting
For fairy lights to appear
In the mists surrounding
The hills lonely
A solitude proud
Unwanted too
The music of the evening
Comforting
Inviting sleep
Yet her eyes dream without closing
And the night remains mysterious, long
