Nails reflect the health of a person. So it is very necessary to take proper care of our nails. Taking care of our nails on a daily basis will ensure that our nails get proper care and attention. It is not very time consuming, if we keep in mind the following tips- 1)Keeping our nails clean- Since most problems start with germs and bacteria, we have to ensure that our nails are clean. Dirt under the nails should be removed and the skin around the nails should also be kept clean 2)Stop biting nails- Many people have the bad habit of biting nails. This might be due to anxiety and some do it out of habit. This should be stopped as it will lead to uneven nails. 3)Trim at regular intervals- Nails should be trimmed regularly . This will prevent broken uneven nails and one can shape nails as per style or convenience. 4)Moisturiser- Nails should be moisturised at regular intervals to prevent dryness and flakiness. Nails are very delicate and moisturising it will make them strong and shiny. 5)Wear gloves- We should wear gloves while doing household chores like cleaning dishes etc. because detergents harm nails. Gloves protect the hand and nails from chemicals. 6)Take care of your cuticles-Since cuticles are very delicate and can get ruptured easily, taking good care of them is crucial. Coconut oil or almond oil can be massaged to the cuticles to nourish them. 7)Filing nails- Nails should be filed slowly in one direction. This will ensure a smooth tip. If filing is done from one corner to the centre and from the centre to the other edge, a smooth finish can be obtained. 8)Base coat and top coat-Base coat can be applied to nails as it forms a protective layer and prevents nails from getting discoloured. A top coat on the other hand makes nail colour last longer. 9) Removing nail polish- One should never try to remove nail polish by scraping it off. This will make the surface of the nail rough and uneven. Nail polish should be removed with nail polish remover tissues. 10)Avoid nail hardener- Nail hardeners should be avoided as they contain formaldehyde which may cause splits on nails. 11)Choose your nail polish remover carefully- Acetone based removers should not be used, as it may damage nails and make it dry. 12) Eating healthy food- Add vitamin E,protein, iron, zinc and magnesium to our diet for strong healthy nails. 13) Emery boards- Use emery boards that are not too rough. This will ensure our nails are not hurt. 14) Manicure and pedicure-Timely manicure and pedicure in good reputed salons will ensure beautiful, healthy nails.
